Asiaq is a public enterprise under the Government of Greenland, GG, and the Department of Infrastructure and Environment.

Workshop and depot

Asiaq operates all over Greenland, undertaking activities concerning the physical environment. Our annual turnover is around 25 million DKK, 75 % of which is a grant from the GG, while the remainder originates from commissioned assignments and external funding. We are presently about 32 employees, the majority of whom are natural scientists.

Asiaq’s responsibilities include; mapping, geographic information, hydrology, climate, environment, and surveying and geotechnical investigation. Our Workshop maintains a large network of climate stations throughout Greenland.

Asiaq collects relevant data from all over Greenland. Many of these data go back to the 1950s, meaning that Asiaq is responsible for both data collection and data storage. The grant from the GG is used to collect, quality assure and store all the data on which we base our knowledge and advice. In addition, Asiaq offers to undertake related assignments for the GG and other customers. Invoices are issued for these assignments.

Vision

At Asiaq we continuously adjust our strategies to comply with input from the GG, employees and current trends. We express this in a vision looking three years ahead. At present, the wording is as follows:
