During the last 10 years, numerous researchers from all over the world have made use of the Danish Polar Center’s facilities in the valley Zackenbergdalen in Northeast Greenland. Asiaq is responsible for the ClimateBasic program, through which climate data from the research station are collected, quality assured and communicated. The research project Zackenberg is owned by Greenland Home Rule represented by Asiaq since 2006. ClimateBasic is one of four long-term monitoring programs involving a number of research institutions:
The purpose of the investigations at Zackenberg is to improve the understanding of the composition, function and dynamics of the high Arctic ecosystem, and to contribute to the monitoring of developments in the Arctic environment. The project are operated and maintained by Danish Polar Center.
